! RELEASE CD/DVD 'ROND' !
On Januari 19 '09 RJ's new CD/DVD 'ROND' is released,13
songs performed the same way the solo-tour was set:
very back to basic - to where most of his songs were born
: on the piano.
All songs recorded in one afternoon, creating the honest
and basic feeling of a song workshop: man behind the piano
singing his songs, nothing more, nothing
less.
Paul Schuurman directed the DVD (and the CD
simultanously) registration in the Van Studio in
Spakenburg, where the release of 'ROND' also will be celebrated
on Februari 7, with an extra concert on the 'place-of-birth'
(with a limited amount of tickets available for fans, see
the agenda) With so many songs waiting to get a rebirth
on piano as well, this may call for a volume ll or lll, later,
who knows...

Vanaf september
'08
start Robert Jan een nieuwe reeks soloconcerten : in
ultieme intieme zetting – piano&zang - doorkruist hij op
deze spannende avonden telkens weer anders en op eigen wijze
zo’n 40 jaar Stips/popmuziek.
Voor het eerst gaat RJ ook Solo over letterlijke grenzen
naar Zwitserland, en overal komen natuurlijk de via internet
ingediende verzoeknummers aan bod!

Goed nieuws:
de 4 eerste SUPERSISTER albums
worden zeer binnenkort door het Engelse
Esoteric label integraal heruitgegeven.
Ook wordt op dit moment bekeken of verdergaande samenwerking
met dit label in de naaste
toekomst tot meer mooie resultaten zou kunnen leiden.
Het label, onderdeel van de
Cherry Red
Group, heeft niet alleen
veel ervaring in het wereldwijd realiseren van
reissues als deze, vaak in de
Canterbury sferen, maar ook met
het organiseren van bijbehorende live concerten – wie
weet dat er evt een modus
gevonden kan worden om de ons dierbare Supersister
muziek toch levend te houden…
Good
news : the first 4 SUPERSISTER albums will be
reissued integrally by the British Esoteric label. At
this very moment both sides are finding out
if a further cooperation could be
fruitful in the near future. Esoteric – a division of the
Cherry Red Group – is not only experienced in world wide
reissues like this one (often Canterbury associated), but
also in organizing parallel live-performances, so who
knows there’s still a chance on keeping SUPERSISTER music
alive, one way or another…
MUZIEK LOGO DEN HAAG
De gemeente Den Haag heeft zich, als eerste stad
- naar een idee van muziekpromotor
Gerard van den IJssel -
een muzieklogo aangemeten. De keuze van
‘stadscomponist’ viel op RJS, die een geanimeerde
versie van het nog vrij verse Haagse
gemeentelogo-ontwerp van
Anton Corbijn
ontwikkelde en dat als leidraad voor de muziek nam. Bij deze
animatie komen een aantal verschillende muziekversies,
die bij diverse gelegenheden
gebruikt kunnen gaan worden.
De presentatie vindt plaats op 28 mei, details
worden binnenkort bekend gemaakt.
The City of The Hague
is the first city ever to have a music logo (an idea
from music promoter Gerard van den
IJssel). RJS had the honour to be asked to
fulfill the task as
‘city-composer‘. He made an animated version of the
city-logo, a prior design by Anton
Corbijn and let this inspire
him to write the music that should go along with the
movements of the drawing. Different versions will be
made to fit several occasions, the first presentation
will be on May 28, more
details will be announced later.
NITS – DOING THE DISHES
In de pers
misschien wel het best besproken NITS album ooit:
‘Doing the Dishes’. De
eerste succesvolle ‘leg’ van de
DTD-tour door Nederland en
Europa zit er nu op. Vreemd genoeg lopen festivals
niet erg warm voor de band die telkens weer bewijst één
van Nederlands
top-acts te zijn, maar dat
is waarschijnlijk ook voor een gedeelte te wijten aan het
bewust beperkt gehouden aanbod van de aan
monopolie lijdende
festival-programmeer-bedrijven.
Volgend jaar
februari
continueert NITS de DTD-tour
weer, na een uitgebreide break waarvan nu bekend is
dat Robert Jan vnl zijn
Solo-optredens zal spelen (zie agenda) en Henk
Nederland en Belgie rond zal
trekken in combinatie met Frank
Boeijen en Hennie
Vrienten. De nieuwe 2009
NITS data worden in onze agenda geplaatst zodra deze
vast staan.
Maybe it is the
best received NITS album ever: ‘Doing the Dishes’.
The first leg of the successful DTD-Tour
through Europe and the Netherlands is now finished.
Strangely enough, the enthusiasm for the CD
was not translated into a series
of summer festival appearances, partly due to the
restricted variety presented by the Dutch
festival-program-factories suffering from monopoly
for some time already.
Next year February
NITS will
continue the DTD-Tour, after a vast break
of which we know now that RJS will play his
Solo-concerts and Henk Hofstede
will join Frank Boeijen en
Hennie
Vrienten for a Dutch/Belgian theatre tour. The
NITS 2009 data will be published here in the
agenda as soon they are official.
FREEK: NIEUW STUDIO ALBUM
Na het live album De Toeschouwer – de
uitge breide registratie van het
theater programma De Toehoorder uit 2007, staat
alweer het volgende muzikale Freek de Jonge project
voor de deur, dit keer wordt het een studio album (de
laatste was nog met Neerlands
Hoop…) , mede-geproduceerd
door Daniel
Lohues. Naast Robert Jan
zal oa
Cok van Vuuren
hieraan meewerken.

De reeks
Robert Jan - SOLO in maart dit jaar was een
doorslaand succes, vaak duurden de avonden ongemerkt
ongekend lang..! Reden dus om
vaker te doen: voordat het in het najaar 2008 tot een
uitgebreidere tour komt –waarover later bericht –
eerst nog een paar speldenprikken in november/december
’07.
Deze vinden plaats in dezelfde soort sfeervolle kleinere
theaters als in maart, met nu ook ander materiaal uit
RJ’s rijke
muziek-heden-en-verleden, in dezelfde
basic
opzet, dus

TOUR start in 2008
na even bijgekomen te zijn van de
bijzonder geslaagde 2 jaar lange Les
NuitsTour, met
als staart de Duitse verrassingstour met
Uriah Heep (!),zijn
de NITS alweer volop in de weer met het opnemen van
de CD die eind dit jaar gaat uitkomen en waar
de tour in 2008 jaar op wordt gebaseerd. Het leek een niet
gemakkelijke opgave na ‘Les Nuits’, maar de eerste
resultaten klinken alweer
VÉÉLbelovend anders…
!!

After some 2 years of
touring with the ‘Les Nuits’ material – ending with
the surprising German tour with
Uriah Heep (!),
NITS already started recording their new album,
which is planned to be released in end. At first it
seemed like it would be hard to make a follow-up for ‘Les
Nuits’, but the first results take way these doubts
easily, sounding very promising (and different…) indeed !
FREEK REPRISE IN OKTOBER+ LIVE CD

met veel muziek in bijzondere bezetting:

kwam in April/Mei 07 plotseling in plaats van de
reeds gespeelde
verkiezingsconference. het werd een verrassend brede avond
van rock&roll
tm klassiek, Robert Jan had de
muzikale leiding en droeg zorg voor de arrangementen.
Freek prolongeert dit
programma in Oktober

Tegelijkertijd wordt in oktober de live CD
gereleased, met songs en
conferences uit

‘ CONTROL ’: ANTON CORBIJN
& SUPERSISTER !

Corbijn heeft met zijn
eerste speelfilm ‘Control’
over Joy
Division zanger Ian
Curtis meteen raak
geschoten: in Cannes,
Edinburg,
Knokke en Australië sleepte hij prestigieuze
prijzen weg. Ook goed nieuws is dat
Supersister’s
‘She Was
Naked’ in de film voorkomt,
als enige song van Nederlandse bodem, iets waar
Anton zich, zo bleek in een
interview zich persoonlijk hard voor heeft gemaakt. –
De film heeft aan belangstelling niet te klagen en na
wereldwijd de weg naar de theaters te hebben gevonden,
gaat hij op 9 Oktober
feestelijk in première in Den Haag.
Helaas kan Supersister wegens omstandigheden geen
live-bijdrage aan deze
feestelijkheden leveren, maar zal dat zeker goedmaken bij de
volgende Edison-uitreikingen…

…And part of this good
news is that the only non-Brittish
songs in the soundtrack is
Supersister’s
‘She Was Naked’.
Anton Corbijn personally
took care of reserving a spot in the movie-soundtrack for
his this only Dutch song in the movie. She Was Naked
has conquered a light cult-status in England since it
was one of the favourites (releases) of good old John
Peel, who released Supersister on his own

heeft onlangs de muziek verzorgd voor een TV spot ter
ondersteuning van een promotiecampagne door en voor
de gemeente Delft, RJ’s
huidige woonplaats. De spot, gerealiseerd door
communicatiebedrijf Wubbe
ism Paul Roos wordt deze
gehele zomer uitgezonden door zowel TV Rijnmond als
TV-West. De kans bestaat dat
de muziek op ook op andere manieren ivm
Delft gebruikt gaat worden, zoals
ringtone en ‘stads(carillon)hymne’

working on his first feature film about Ian Curtis,
in which lots autobiographical material will be used, told
RJ that he would like to use
Supersister's 'She Was Naked' as one of
the (probably many) songs for the soundtrack of his
movie. RJ was of course honoured and moved by this request
of his 'old pal'.

after some
12 years (what a carreer!!)
after their appearance on the Crossing Border Festival in
The Hague, 'BART & JAN' (= Bart Chabot and RJS) came back
together and did a full-night program of poetry and music at
the beach club the Kwartel, the
summer residence of Theatre de Regentes
in The Hague.

SHADOW STEALS FROM SUPERSISTER !!
already
some time ago DJ SHADOW used the intro of
Supersister's 'Judy
Goes On Holiday' in his song 'Organ Donor',
illegaly. The Judy-organ
intro was sampled from the album 'Pudding &
Gisteren', pitched up and
some small notes were eliminated to fit the rhythm track. DJ
Shadow never tried to contact Supersister or RJS in order to
make an agreement about using this. When contact was made by
Supersister, he offered an amazing small fee for the
so far illegal use of the Supersister sample. By offering
money anyway he confesses that he has used this theme and
recording... If there's a fan/lawyer reading
this, Supersister would feel obliged... cause publisher
Nada/Dayglow - owned by the
Almighty Willem van Kooten
family was not able to get any further in this...
the
latest news now is that 'Organ Donor' has been
covered by the Lefties Soul Connection !
